Clients have included The St. Joe Company, CNL, Holland & Knight, Anheuser-Busch Companies, American Chemistry Council, American Progressive Bag Affiliates, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Fireman’s Fund Insurance and numerous law firms, medical practices and health care facilities.
In 2009, in addition to managing his company, Gil took another leap and entered local politics. He was appointed to the Tallahassee City Commission to fill a vacancy and won election in 2010 and re-election in 2014.
He was elected and served as president of the Florida League of Cities representing 412 municipalities throughout Florida. He was also appointed to the National League of Cities Board of Directors and served for two years as the Chair of an NLC National Advocacy Committee lobbying Congress for the needs of cities throughout the country.
As a middle kid of five children, Gil was the problem-solver, peace negotiator, doer and fixer. He had no idea the lessons learned at the early age would eventually lead to his consensus-building skills. As a business owner, he’s continued using those skills in resolving land development disputes among stakeholders, building agreement within organizations in creating successful marketing programs and serving in numerous leadership positions. As a City Commissioner, Gil was the go-to person that brought opposing parties together to resolve what seemed to be insurmountable disagreements. As president of the Florida League of Cities, through his leadership and statewide advocacy, the 2018 Legislative Session passed no unfunded mandates or preemptions restricting local government, a first in modern day times.
Now retired from elected office, Gil continues to serve his clients, his community and Florida in various leadership positions. Additionally, as a result of his years of service in elected office, he’s developed relationships with elected officials across Florida and the country that are proving to be invaluable for those that need solutions to local issues.
